Description

This innovative, rigorous program is offered by Hawk Ventures via subcontract with Blue Ridge Adventure Medicine. Modeled on the National Park Service Basic Technical Rescue Training-East (BTRT-E), this one week training takes students from the basics of knots and rigging on Day 1 all the way to helicopter hoists, multipitch raises and lowers, and overnight ops by Day 5. In variation from BTRT-E, this program is designed for medical professionals working on rescue teams and will have a slightly more medical focus, although medical training is not a prerequisite for enrolling. All food and housing will be provided at course director Dr. Chris Davis‘s farm below Pilot Mountain, and training will be at Pilot Mountain State Park in North Carolina. No prior medical or rescue experience required.
